Mike Miller survives qualifying, earns a U.S. Open Spot

June 7th 2016 - SUMMIT, N.J.  The hands were anything but steady as Mike Miller sipped a celebratory drink on the patio at Canoe Brook Country Club recounting a stretch run that went from desperate to dreamlike in an instant.

At the end of a very long day, the 24-year-old from Brewster was among the six players holding a U.S. Open qualifying packet.

"It really is a dream come true," said Miller, who earned the right to play Oakmont Country Club next week when finished tied for third with a 6-under total of 138 on Monday in the sectional qualifier at Canoe Brook. "Nothing can even compare. I’ve heard horror stories about how it’s going to be tough and how the course is brutal. I don’t care. I’m so elated that I get to be there with the world’s best. I can’t wait to play."
